Creatively speaking
Recently a friend I was talking about his first experience in a shop where they can paint their own pottery. He was excited and encouraged to talk about this experience, and explained that she wanted to be there every day for lunch for painting. They could only live at that store and paint all day. I understand the passion and loved watching it.
Then he said something that I almost fell off my chair. "I've never done anything like this before in my life, I'm one of those people who have no talent or an artistic bone in my body. "I asked him if he really truly believed that, and indicated that he did honestly feel that way.
I do not think about anyone. I think especially in people who have not found its niche, however, that there is wealth of talent hidden, unknown, that just has not been found yet. I love meeting people this way because to me, I sense a search treasure.
I have found in my life that the stations I'm not doing something creative, something vital was missing. That I'm a little out of balance. I've been that way since I was a child. I think people are born with a need to express their creativity. The obstacles to creativity are finding that blocked the medium should be, and probably also defining some goals, and perhaps some of the reasons identified that are blocked.
Expanding the definition of reflection and what is creativity. There is only one person who can draw or paint or write. Most do not just take it and were good at that in his first attempt. It was a natural talent, but it needs developed. They learned and practiced how to be good at what they do. Almost anything and any other means can be created in art. The garden can be an art form, for example. I've seen some gardens really were a work of art and almost breath taking. I've seen garbage became an art, no jewelry, basketry, weaving, spinning your own yarn, photography, too smart. Start thinking big.
Where are your interests? Take time to really think about it. What are some things I've said yourself, "someday I want to know that". What are some areas you have seen others do you find totally amazing and you appears to be the last to hang around to admire all the small finite details, wanting to know all about that? Look at those areas first.
Invest in yourself. Take a class, get a book or find a mentor as possible. Putting into action a commitment to learning. Everyone who has mastered a skill that is through a learning process and starts at step one. Start. Save the excuses and fears. There has to be perfect, not even need to show people if I do not. Give yourself permission to fail, but given enough time and dedication to see if it's something that suits you or not. If not, go try something else, but keep looking until you find that fit.
Do not be surprised if doing this however, poses problems in your life. I have found in the mine to be true. I'm not sure if it is not working elsewhere of his brain and taps into the creative side or what. But I've found that to push through those feelings, to speak with a good friend or trusted person about feelings. In recent years I have taken Candlemaking, and I had made candles as a child, and so it was for me a return to an art form I long ago wanted to do. I was very surprised at some important issues to reach the surface in my life, things to get too personal here, but they were so important I was about to quit, although that was something I wanted to do and has invested heavily in cried for 2 weeks. After an ugly truth was mourning time he had pulled down and over in my mind, I realized that something horrible had robbed me too much in my life now, and it was time for his power over me to stop. Through the pain, I chose to do business and got away with the name: Joyful Designs in Soy. I gained some real personal freedom through that process that I am deeply grateful, and my company name is a declaration of a new truth in my life. I also carry a new joy that I made earlier, in the rest of my life.
Our creative side is not just what we are doing is also what we are, and it affects people close to us. Like throwing a stone into a pond, generated waves, the flow out and affects others.
