How to make a delicious Italian cream cake with Cream Cheese Frosting
Here is a great recipe for Italian cream cake. This cake is easy to be rewarded with many smiles and praise from family and friends. An Italian cream cake is ideal for special occasions like birthdays. They are also great deals at office parties, church pitch-ins, family reunions, etc.
DONNA'S ITALIAN CREAM CAKE
5 eggs
2 cups sugar
1 stick butter
1 / 2 cup shortening
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 / 2 teaspoon salt
1 can coconut
1 cup chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cream sugar, butter, butter and vanilla together. Separate egg whites aside. Add the egg yolks and mix with the mixture of cream. In a small bowl, mix flour, baking soda and salt. Add to cream mixture alternately with buttermilk. Add the coconut and nuts. Beat the egg whites and fold into batter. Pour into 3 cake pans 8-inch that have been well greased and floured. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
Cream cheese frosting
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 bar butter, softened
1 pound powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 / 2 cup chopped walnuts
Combine cream cheese and butter in a bowl. Using an electric mixer on slow to medium speed slowly add the powdered sugar. Add the vanilla extract. Add the chopped walnuts.
To assemble the cake, place one cake layer cake in a decorative dish. Cover the top with frosting. Repeat with the second layer and then the third. Use remaining frosting to frost sides of cake. Make some decorative swirls on top of a cake beautiful presentation. A small circle of whole nuts in the center adds a decorative touch.
