How to make Old Fashion Banana cream pie and pie crust raising flour
This ancient form Banana Cream Pie takes you back to " good ole times. "It is a simple but delicious recipe. If you do not have a favorite cake recipe, try this with yeast Flour Pie Crust by pie shell. Busy, fast, or just do not like making pie crust, there are some great ready-made crust in the freezer at the supermarket.
OLD FASHION BANANA CREAM PIE
2 cups milk
3 egg yolks, save whites for another use
1 tablespoons butter
1 / 3 cup flour
1 / 8 teaspoon salt
2 / 3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 bananas, sliced
baked pastry shell
Scald milk. At the top of a double boiler bowl, combine the flour, salt and sugar. Slowly add the boiled milk to the flour mixture, stirring constantly until smooth. Cook simmered in the water bath until smooth and thick, about 15 minutes. Beat egg yolks slightly and add a small amount of hot mixture for them and beat constantly until smooth. Quickly add the egg mixture to double boiler, stirring constantly. Cook 3 minutes more. Add butter and vanilla and stir to mix well. Remove top of double boiler from the stove. While the mixture is cooled slightly, cut the bananas into the pie shell. Cover bananas to the filling mixture. Serve with spoonfuls of whipped cream or egg whites used to make a meringue and make this a banana meringue pie. Either way, is delicious.
Self-rising Flour pie crust
2 cups self-rising flour
2 / 3 cup solid vegetable shortening
6-8 tablespoons water
Cut flour and butter together until mixture is like coarse crumbs. Add water, starting with six tablespoons and mix until a stiff dough is formed. Add little by little more water if necessary. Divide dough in half. Roll half the dough to a circle about 1/8-inch thick. Transfer to a pie plate. Add the filling. Do the remaining mass, like the first time and use on top of filling. With your fingers, turn the edges of the dough under seal and press in a wavy edge design. Make small cuts in the upper crust to allow steam to escape during cooking. Bake cake according to recipe.
Note: To make a pie over of the pie, divide ingredients in half. Follow the instructions above. Place dough in a pie plate, 9 inches. With a fork, make some holes in the bottom and sides of the dough to allow air to escape. Without it, the crust to puff up. Bake at 350 degrees until browned. Check often and if there is smoking, stick fork in the area blow. Allow to cool before filling.
